Liz Gilliver

Liz Gilliver is Professor of Percussion at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and co-directs the percussion ensemble at Birmingham Conservatoire. As a graduate of RNCM (1986) and the Rotterdams Conservatorium (studying under Robert Van Sice), she has built a diverse career spanning symphonic, contemporary, and musical theatre performance. She has collaborated with prestigious ensembles including the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO), Psappha, and Creative Jazz Orchestra under Antony Braxton and Peter Erskine.

Her expertise in mallet percussion is particularly notable, including performance of demanding scores like the one in Pirates of Penzance. She maintains active teaching roles at RNCM and Birmingham Conservatoire while also working as a guest tutor at Chetham’s School of Music.
