Liz Gillis

Liz Gillis is a Professor and Chair in the Resource Management and Protection (RMAP) Department at Vancouver Island University (VIU). She holds a BSc (Agr) from Nova Scotia Agricultural College and MSc/PhD degrees from the University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on population dynamics of terrestrial birds and mammals, particularly northern and alpine species.

She teaches courses such as RMOT 101 BC Wildlife, RMOT 275 Wildlife Techniques, and RMOT 401 Wildlife Management. Prior to joining VIU in 2007, she worked for the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and taught at St. Francis Xavier University. Her interdisciplinary work bridges ecology, conservation, and applied wildlife management.
