Dr. Liz Falconer is a Senior Lecturer in Journalism at Bournemouth University and an Emerita Professor of Technology Enhanced Learning at the University of the West of England (UWE). She holds a Visiting Fellowship in Archaeology and Anthropology at BU, reflecting her interdisciplinary research interests in immersive virtual environments. With extensive leadership experience, she has directed educational innovation centers and received recognition including the 2013 National Management and Leadership Award finals and Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Her research focuses on immersive learning technologies, particularly virtual reality applications in healthcare education, archaeological simulations, and situated learning theory. Notable projects include the Virtual Avebury initiative exploring prehistoric site interpretation and collaborations on dementia awareness training through VR. She has published widely in journals like Interactive Learning Environments and Journal of Interactive Learning Research.
Dr. Falconer has led over a dozen grants, including AHRC/EPSRC-funded heritage simulations and Health Education Authority projects.
