Liz Cousins is an Assistant Professor (Education) at the University of Sussex's School of Education and Social Work. With nearly 16 years of primary teaching experience across Key Stage 1 and 2, she specializes in curriculum development and inclusive education. Currently serving as Course Lead for the BA in Primary and Early Years Education, she oversees partnership initiatives, placements, and curriculum/assessment frameworks.
Her research focuses on the role of educational technology (edtech) in teacher training, particularly post-pandemic shifts in technology reliance. Recent interests include exploring artificial intelligence applications in both higher education and K-12 settings. Liz has held key roles such as Primary PGCE Course Tutor (2015-2022), leading Science and Computing modules, and coordinating placements for BA/PGCE programs since 2017.
Her professional practice integrates technological innovation with practical teacher training, emphasizing equitable access to learning opportunities for all students. Current responsibilities include curriculum strategy development and fostering institutional partnerships to enhance trainee educator preparedness.
