Dr. Lixiong Guo is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the School of Business Administration, University of Mississippi. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Vanderbilt University. His research focuses on corporate finance, corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, ESG/sustainability, labor economics, and insider trading. He has published in top journals like the Review of Financial Studies and Management Science.
Dr. Guo has taught at the University of Alabama and the University of New South Wales. He has supervised 6 doctoral students, 2 M.Phil. students, and 9 honors students, with notable placements in academic and competitive programs. His work has been recognized with the 2011 MFA Best Paper Award and FMA semi-finalist distinction in 2017. His research explores intersections between corporate governance, labor policies, and financial markets, often addressing real-world regulatory and ethical challenges.
His scholarship highlights topics such as board decision-making under labor considerations, shareholder activism effects on workplace safety, and cross-border M&A implications for insider trading. He has also analyzed how external shocks like the COVID-19 pandemic impact corporate resilience and labor management strategies.
