Livia Xandersmith

Livia Xandersmith serves as an Undergraduate Programs Coordinator and Lecturer at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Art within Washington University in St. Louis. Her roles include coordinating academic programs such as the Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, and Foundations.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Southern Indiana, followed by a Master of Fine Art in Visual Art from Washington University. Her artistic practice explores themes like surrealism, the interplay between reality and imagination, and the role of memory in contemporary digital culture. She has exhibited works such as In Search of the Good Ol’ Days (2024), Reckoning (2024), Till Death Turns Digital (2024), Comedy of Agency (2022), and Picture Day (2021), showcasing her engagement with space, agency, and visual storytelling.

Xandersmith has been recognized with notable awards and grants, including the Efroymson Fellowship ($10,000 post-graduate award), the Thesis Production Grant for her work A Comedy of Agency, and the Personal Development Staff Grant (2023). These accolades reflect her contributions to artistic innovation and pedagogy.

In her advising and professional development, she focuses on supporting undergraduate students in studio art and visual art disciplines. Her work often intersects with digital media and historical themes, challenging conventional boundaries in artistic expression. She maintains an active presence in the St. Louis art community through exhibitions and collaborative projects.
