Livia Isabella Schubiger is a Professor of International Relations and Data Science at ETH Zurich and holds a Professorship in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Oxford (currently on leave). She previously served as Assistant Professor at Duke University and the London School of Economics. Her research bridges political violence, gender-based violence, and data science methodologies.
Her work explores how state violence impacts civilian behavior, the role of militias in civil wars, and normative shifts in attitudes toward force. She employs mixed methods, including experimental designs, geospatial analysis, and comparative case studies.
