Dr. Livia Betz is a PostDoc researcher at the Chair of Mathematics VII (Optimal Control) at the University of Würzburg, Germany, since 2022. She specializes in optimal control of nonsmooth problems and damage modeling, with a focus on viscous fatigue damage models for brittle materials. Her work is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Prior to her current role, she held a PostDoc position at the University of Duisburg-Essen (2017–2020) and served as a research assistant at TU Dortmund (2014–2017).
Her research interests include:
- Optimal Control Theory
- Nonsmooth Analysis
- Damage Mechanics and Fatigue Modeling
- Calculus of Variations
- Applied Mathematics
She received the PostDoc Prize of the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2018. Her current research project, funded by the DFG, investigates optimality systems for viscous fatigue damage models in brittle materials.
