Liu Ee Chia

Liu Ee Chia serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Real Estate at the National University of Singapore (NUS) since 1 July 2025. Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University (2020-2025), Master of Science in Real Estate & Urban Economics (2018-2019), and Bachelor of Science in Real Estate (2013-2017), all from NUS.

Her research centers on environmental, social and economic sustainability with spatial dimensions, specifically examining how credit systems, financial regulations, and environmental policies shape housing price dynamics and household financing decisions. Current projects investigate educational investment impacts through infrastructure policy changes, demonstrating interdisciplinary reach across real estate economics and social policy.

Recent publications reveal strong methodological trends using natural experiments and policy shocks, particularly in Singapore's land-scarce context. Her work spans educational outcomes (sanitary pad access in India), environmental hazards (severe weather impacts), and market integrity (illicit wealth in property transactions), consistently linking micro-level spatial changes to macroeconomic outcomes.

At NUS, she instructs RE3702 Property Tax and Statutory Valuation and RE3706 Principles of Valuation. Previously at Penn State, she taught Contemporary Issues in Real Estate Markets (2022-2023) and served as teaching assistant for Real Estate Financial Analysis (2021, 2024) and Real Estate and Capital Markets (2022).
