Lisania GIORDANO is a Full Professor of Ancient Christian Literature (LFIL LET 06) at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Catania. She previously held roles such as Delegate of the Rector for Communication and Public Relations (2000–2006), and was a consultant to the Ministry of Education for Euro-Mediterranean Higher Education initiatives. She no longer serves in this department as of the latest update.
Research Interests:
- Influence of classical rhetoric, biblical texts, and Roman legal systems on patristic thought.
- Exegetical analysis in Christian literature (ancient, late antique, and medieval periods).
- Gregory the Great’s use of Scripture and Roman law in exegesis.
- Intertextual dynamics in ancient and late antique sources, blending classical rhetoric, biblical culture, and legal frameworks.
Key Roles & Activities:
- Member of the Study Center on Ancient Christianity and editorial board of the Orpheus journal.
- Contributed to PRIN-funded research projects (2004–2010, 2009) on late antique literature and legal frameworks.
- Organized inter-ministerial meetings on Mediterranean education/research models (2001–2005).
- Supervised theses addressing topics like Gregory Magno’s epistolary works, late antique legislation, and hagiography.
Academic Leadership:
- Member of the Ph.D. College in Human Sciences (University of Catania, internationalized under MIUR).
- Former Board member of IRRSAE Sicily (1998–2001) and University Institute of Magistero (1986–1990).
