Lisaann Gittner

Lisaann Gittner, PhD, is an Associate Professor (Tenured) in the Department of Public Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), holding a secondary appointment in the Department of Political Science. Her work bridges public health, cybersecurity, and policy analysis with a focus on chronic disease management, mental health diversion programs, and big data analytics.

• Education: Two PhDs from the University of Akron (2009), MS degrees from Wright State University (1983).

Research interests include cardiovascular disease prevention, obesity modeling, healthcare cybersecurity (especially MongoDB and Linux container security), and policy interventions for justice-involved populations. She has led NIH-funded projects analyzing big data for public health insights and collaborated on diversion programs for mental health and substance abuse cases.

Notable grants include the DOJ-funded 'Consistency and Coordination through Training' (2019-2021) and NSF's 'Risk Modeling Using Big Data' (2016-2021). She received the Presidents Emerging Engaged Scholar Award (2019) for community-focused research.
