Lisa Zanotti

Lisa Zanotti is an Assistant Professor at Diego Portales University in Santiago, Chile, and a Senior Fellow at the Global Forum on Democracy and Development at the Central European University (CEU). She also serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Political Research Exchange journal. Her research focuses on comparative politics, with a specialization in populism, party systems, radicalization processes, and the far right in Latin America and Western Europe. She holds PhDs in Political Science (Diego Portales University) and Humanities (Leiden University).

Zanotti’s work examines the global rise of populist radical right (PRR) movements, emphasizing their adaptation across regional contexts. She has co-authored influential studies on PRR strategies in Spain (e.g., VOX’s response to the pandemic) and Latin America, particularly Chile’s Partido Republicano. Her research highlights how PRR parties blend authoritarianism, populism, and neoliberalism in non-European contexts, challenging conventional frameworks rooted in European nativism.

Her publications address transnationalism among far-right movements, electoral dynamics, and democratic erosion. She has contributed to projects analyzing anti-establishment rhetoric, voter behavior, and the ideological evolution of PRR actors. Her work bridges theoretical and empirical analysis, advocating for comparative frameworks that account for regional diversity.
