Dr. Lisa Woolsey is an Adjunct Professor at Hope College's Department of Biology, teaching General Biology and Cell Biology labs on a part-time basis since 2022. She holds a PhD in Health Behavior/Gerontology from Indiana University (2005), an MMS in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University (2000), and a B.S. in Biology and Secondary Science Education from Oral Roberts University (1998). Her expertise spans health behavior, gerontology, and healthcare education. Outside academia, she practices emergency medicine at Holland Hospital since 2010 and volunteers at a nearby free medical clinic.
Her research focuses on geriatric care, healthcare workforce development, and medical education innovation. Notable publications include studies on geriatric patient care attitudes, physician assistant roles in school-based clinics, and immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis. She has also contributed to questionnaire design for assessing healthcare student knowledge of aging populations.
Dr. Woolsey has taught in multiple disciplines, including Psychology and Kinesiology at Hope College, and previously instructed in Grand Valley State University's Physician Assistant program (2005–2012). Her professional service includes guest lecturing in athletic training courses and maintaining board certification as a Physician Assistant since 2000.
Personal interests include travel, reading, and family life with her husband, daughter, and two goldendoodles. She actively participates in community engagement through her church and volunteer work near campus.
