Laine Markham is an Assistant Professor at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, part of the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC). She holds dual appointments in Internal Medicine & Geriatrics and serves as the Clinical Medical Director for Multispecialty Medicine. As of 2024-25, she is also the Faculty Senate President. Her academic journey includes a MMS in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University, a BFA in Design Communication from Texas Tech University, and an MBA in Health Services Management from the University of North Texas-Denton.
Her research interests focus on cardiology, including hypertension, heart failure, and management of cardiac implantable electronic devices (e.g., pacemakers, defibrillators). She also has expertise in correctional medicine and interdisciplinary healthcare delivery. Her clinical practice emphasizes general adult cardiology, and she actively teaches in the Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program, prioritizing patient and student education.
Leadership roles include overseeing clinical operations as Medical Director and advocating for institutional governance through the Faculty Senate. Her academic contributions span clinical practice, medical education, and healthcare administration.
