Dr. Lisa Wood is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Northern British Columbia, cross-appointed to Biology, Ecosystem Science and Management, and the NRES Graduate Program. As an applied plant biologist and dendroclimatologist, her research examines human-induced stressors on forest communities, particularly chemical herbicide impacts on non-target vegetation and climate change effects on plants.
Her laboratory specializes in tree-ring analysis, plant anatomy, and chemical characterization techniques. Current projects investigate herbicide persistence in boreal forest ecosystems and climate influences on forest productivity. She supervises graduate students in MNRES, MSc NRES-Forestry, and MSc Biology programs.
Her extensive publication record demonstrates consistent focus on forest ecology, dendrochronology, and herbicide impacts. Research themes include long-term ecological monitoring, climate-growth relationships, and non-target effects of forest management practices, with frequent use of dendroecological methods and chemical analysis.
