Dr. Lisa Walker is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine and holds adjunct roles at Carleton University (Psychology and Cognitive Science). She is a clinical neuropsychologist at The Ottawa Hospital and co-leads the Neurodegeneration Pillar and Multiple Sclerosis Research Group at the University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute. Her research focuses on cognitive health in multiple sclerosis (MS), particularly cognitive fatigability, stem-cell therapies, and rehabilitation strategies. She leads the Cognitive Health in MS Research Lab, which explores interventions like behavioral therapies and brain priming. Dr. Walker’s clinical practice includes neuropsychological assessments for diagnostic and capacity evaluations. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and holds grants from the National MS Society, Canada First Research Excellence Fund, and others.

Research Interests: Cognitive fatigability measurement and treatment, MS rehabilitation, 2SLGBTQIA+ MS population needs, stem-cell therapy impacts, biomarker relationships, and cognitive assessment validation. Current projects include the MSCanRehab platform and studies on brain priming combined with cognitive training.
Grants & Funding: Includes $650,000 from the National MS Society (FOR-MS Fellowship), $471,875 from the uOttawa Brain-Heart Interconnectome initiative, and $1.3 million from CIHR for a mindfulness trial in mild traumatic brain injury.
