Lisa Tedesco is a Professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. She serves as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Laney Graduate School, overseeing over 1,800 students across 40+ programs. Her leadership emphasizes interdisciplinary study, professional development, and diversity initiatives.
Dr. Tedesco holds a doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University at Buffalo (SUNY). Before Emory, she held roles at the University of Michigan, including Professor, Associate Dean in Dentistry, and Interim Provost. She also served as a Visiting Fellow at Columbia University's Center for Community Health Partnerships.
Her research focuses on health psychology, including oral health promotion, stress management, and disparities. She has pioneered programs like the Grant Writing Program and New Thinkers/New Leaders Fund to enhance graduate education. Nationally, she has chaired the Council of Graduate Schools Board and served on committees for diversity and graduate education reform.
Her academic work integrates behavioral sciences with institutional leadership, addressing curriculum innovation and economic sustainability in academic medicine. She is a leader in advancing interdisciplinary training and career preparation for graduate students beyond traditional academia.
