Amy Kirby is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. She serves as the National Wastewater Surveillance System Lead for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Her research focuses on infectious disease transmission, particularly norovirus detection and pathogenesis linked to gastrointestinal dysfunction. She also investigates water- and food-borne pathogens, including biofilm formation in Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and iron acquisition in Bordetella species.

Research Interests: Molecular microbiology applied to epidemiological questions, wastewater surveillance, and public health interventions related to sanitation and hygiene.
