Lisa Sun-Hee Park is a Professor in Asian American Studies and affiliate faculty in Sociology, currently serving as Department Chair for Exercise & Sport Studies (transitioning to Health Justice & Community). She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Northwestern University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on migration, race, and social policy, particularly examining how marginalized communities navigate exclusion/inclusion in welfare systems, environmental justice, and healthcare access. Notable works include Entitled to Nothing (2011) and The Slums of Aspen (2011), both award-winning books.
Her current projects explore healthcare access for undocumented immigrants in the U.S.-Mexico border and unionization efforts of home care workers in Minnesota. She serves as editor for the University of Illinois Press' Asian American Experience series and on the editorial board of Social Problems.
Her research interests span environmental justice, feminist theory, and global gendered labor. Recent publications critically analyze surveillance technologies, AI ethics, and digital infrastructures, reflecting her commitment to intersecting social justice themes across media and technology studies.
