Lisa Sullivan is a Professor of Economics and Chair of German Studies at Mount Holyoke College, serving as Provost and Dean of Faculty since 2022. Her academic leadership spans academic affairs, library services, and teaching initiatives.
- Education: Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Toronto; B.A. from Vassar College
As an economic historian, Sullivan investigates the evolution of work ethics, meaningful labor, and identity across medieval, early modern, and contemporary contexts. Her interdisciplinary research bridges socio-economic analysis, utopian community structures, and cultural narratives in children's literature.
In her administrative role, Sullivan oversees academic departments, centers, and critical institutional operations including the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum and registrar’s office. Previously, she held teaching and leadership positions at Harvey Mudd College for over three decades.
