معرفی
Dr. Lisa Stinson is a Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia (School of Molecular Sciences, Centre for Human Lactation Research and Translation). Her research focuses on the early life microbiome, human milk microbiome, and developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD). She holds a PhD (2019) and Master of Medical Science (2014) from UWA, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne (2010).
Research Interests: Stinson investigates how the microbiome influences infant health, particularly through maternal milk. Key areas include microbial-based interventions to optimize maternal/infant health, the role of human milk components (e.g., lactoferrin, lysozyme), and the link between early microbiome composition and chronic disease prevention. Her work integrates molecular biology techniques with clinical and epidemiological studies.
Grants & Projects: Leads/actively participates in major grants including the WA Breast Milk Biobank (Stan Perron Charitable Foundation), NHMRC-funded microbiome workflow initiatives, and projects examining human milk metabolomics (Medela partnership).
Awards: Recognized with ABC’s Top 5 Scientist (2020), School of Molecular Sciences Early-Career Research Award (2023), and multiple best presentation awards (including DOHaD ANZ and ASMR). Her PhD thesis was honored with a Dean’s Award for distinguished work.
Labs/Teams: A core member of the Hartmann Human Lactation Research Group, collaborating internationally on microbiome workflows and cohort studies like the BLOSOM project.
