Dr. Lisa Spitzer is a Researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID), specializing in metascience, open science, preregistration, and eye-tracking methodologies. She received her PhD in Psychology (Dr. rer. nat) from the University of Trier in 2024 and holds an M.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Cologne (2020). Her work focuses on enhancing scientific reproducibility through structured preregistration frameworks and exploring the ethical and methodological challenges in psychological research.
Her research interests include advancing open science practices, analyzing researcher motivations and obstacles in preregistration adoption, and evaluating remote eye-tracking technologies. Spitzer has contributed to community-driven initiatives such as developing the Psychological Research Preregistration-Quantitative (PRP-QUANT) Template and organizing workshops to promote preregistration adoption globally. She actively participates in conferences like SIPS and the German Psychological Society (DGPs), presenting on topics ranging from preregistration challenges to metascience innovations.
Spitzer’s publications emphasize methodological improvements, including surveys on researcher attitudes toward preregistration, comparative analyses of eye-tracking technologies, and template development for scoping reviews. Her contributions span peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and open-access archives, reflecting her commitment to transparent and reproducible science.
She leads or collaborates in labs such as the Science Reception Lab, Social Influence Lab, and Metascience Lab at ZPID, focusing on interdisciplinary metascience and psychological research practices. Her work often bridges theoretical frameworks with practical tools, such as the PreReg platform, to address gaps in scientific transparency and reproducibility.
