Dr. Lisa Schaub is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in the Department of International History at the University of Trier's Faculty III. She specializes in colonial and transatlantic history, with a focus on 19th-20th century Canada, Métis communities, and settler colonialism. Her academic trajectory includes teaching courses on these subjects while contributing to major research projects.
Education:
- Master of Arts in History (2016, University of Trier): Thesis on Red River Métis resistance to Protestant missions.
- Master of Education (2016, University of Trier): Thesis on E.T.A. Hoffmann's literary dualism.
- PhD (2020, University of Trier): Dissertation examining Métis territoriality and racialization (to be published as a monograph in 2022).
Research Focus: Her work investigates the intersections of land, identity, and power in settler-colonial contexts, particularly through microhistorical analyses of Métis families. She employs interdisciplinary approaches linking history, indigenous studies, and migration theory.
Grants & Projects: Currently developing an Emmy Noether research group on transatlantic migration history under the initiative 'Transregionale Ökonomien von Mobilität und Diversität.'
