Lisa Oberlander, DMA, serves as Professor of Clarinet at the Schwob School of Music, Columbus State University, where she directs a studio of 18-20 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing Performance, Music Education, or Bachelor of Arts in Music degrees. Her students regularly win national competitions and attend prestigious graduate programs worldwide.
Her research focuses on clarinet performance and pedagogy, with expertise in chamber music and contemporary repertoire. Oberlander's performance career spans international stages across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan, featuring premieres of works by composers like Fred Cohen and Unsuk Chin.
Notable achievements include her debut album Times Like These (2014), appearances on Summit Records releases, and solo performances with orchestras including the Phoenix Symphony and Columbus Symphony. She maintains active engagement through masterclasses at institutions like Manhattan School of Music and Northwestern University.
Oberlander's students have earned significant honors including Carnegie Hall performances, MTNA National Senior Woodwinds Division first prize, and the Phi Kappa Phi Marcus L. Urann Fellowship. Alumni hold positions as university professors, orchestral performers, and arts administrators globally.
