Lisa Morrison is a Lecturer at the University of Surrey, affiliated with the School of Mathematics and Physics and the Experimental Nuclear Physics group. Her academic roles include Physics Admissions Tutor and Senior Personal Tutor, with teaching responsibilities spanning Fundamentals of Physics, Oscillations & Waves, The Universe, Properties of Matter, Atoms & Quanta, and Solid State Physics.
- PhD in Nuclear Physics
- MPhys (Hons) in Physics
Her research focuses on nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics, utilizing Coulomb excitation to study nuclear shapes and deformations. Collaborative projects span Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, and South Africa, with recent work on C12+C12 fusion, 13Be structure, and shape coexistence in 94Zr. Key methodologies include GEANT4 simulations, Bayesian analysis, and Penning-trap mass measurements.
Publications highlight advancements in nuclear deformation parameters, beta-decaying states, and experimental nuclear spectroscopy. Supervision includes MSc Medical Physics projects on PET scan technology and undergraduate research on outreach initiatives. Collaborative institutions include CERN, TRIUMF-ISAC, and INFN Legnaro.
