Lisa McLendon is the William Allen White Professor of Journalism and Mass Communications and Professor of the Practice at the University of Kansas, coordinating the Bremner Editing Center. She holds a Ph.D. in Slavic Linguistics from the University of Texas and has extensive experience in journalism, including roles at the Wichita Eagle and teaching at multiple institutions. Her expertise spans news editing, grammar, punctuation, and linguistic principles.
Education:
- B.A. in Sociology & Anthropology, Truman State University
- M.A. and Ph.D. in Slavic Languages, University of Texas at Austin
Research Interests: Focuses on editing practices, linguistic accuracy in journalism, and pedagogy in news media education. Active in professional organizations like the American Copy Editors Society (ACES), where she has held leadership roles and presented on grammar and headline writing.
