Lisa Maruca is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Wayne State University, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on eighteenth-century literature and culture, book history, children’s literature, and pedagogy. She holds a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University (1997). Dr. Maruca has been recognized for her innovative teaching, including the 2021-22 American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies Course Design Award for her course 'Mediating the Global Eighteenth Century' and the CLAS TIDE Award (co-PI).
Her scholarship explores authorship, print culture, and gender studies, with notable works such as *The Work of Print: Authorship and the English Text Trades, 1660-1760* (2007) and contributions to volumes on handwriting pedagogy and critical bibliography. She actively engages in public humanities initiatives, co-organizing the 2015 HASTAC conference on Digital Humanities at Michigan State University.
Recent courses include ENG6002 (Teaching Literary Studies) and ENG5680 (Children’s Literature). Her work bridges historical and contemporary issues in education, digital tools, and the materiality of texts. She maintains an active blog, *Mechanick Exercises*, discussing book history, pedagogy, and publishing trends.
