Lisa Mahoney is an Associate Professor and Director of Islamic World Studies at DePaul University's College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, specializing in the Department of History of Art & Architecture. Her research focuses on the artistic production of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem and France during the 12th-13th centuries, with particular expertise in the political use of art and architecture under Frankish rule.
- PhD in History of Art and Architecture from Johns Hopkins University (2008)
- Current book project analyzing visual culture in the Latin Kingdom through coins/seals, Bethlehem mosaics, icons, and Jerusalem royal tombs
- Ongoing studies of Frankish church façades and Islamic influences on Crusader art
Her scholarly contributions appear in Gesta, The Journal of the Walters Art Museum, and key edited volumes. She has co-edited France and the Holy Land with Daniel Weiss.
