Lisa M. Satlin

Lisa M. Satlin, MD is Professor and System Chair of the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she also holds a professorship in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology. She is the Herbert H. Lehman Professor of Pediatrics and leads a nationally recognized research program in renal physiology.

Her research focuses on the mechanisms of ion transport in the cortical collecting duct, with emphasis on postnatal development of sodium and potassium regulatory pathways and the role of urinary flow in modulating channel activity. Her lab develops innovative models including 3D bioprinted collecting ducts and human PSC-derived kidney organoids to study distal nephron function.

Her recent publications highlight trends in renal ion transport, sex differences in transporter expression, and the interplay between liver disease and kidney sodium handling. These works reflect a strong integration of physiology, molecular biology, and translational models.

Dr. Satlin leads the single nephron physiology core of an NIH-funded O'Brien Center, supporting both her team and external investigators. Her work is highly collaborative, engaging institutes including the Mindich Child Health and Development Institute and the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences.

She is actively involved in multidisciplinary programs such as the Pediatric Chronic Lung Program and the Comprehensive Neuromuscular Care Clinic, and her leadership drives research expansion in child health across Mount Sinai.
