Lisa Hillmann is an Assistant Professor of Financial Accounting and Business Taxation at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, affiliated with the Finance and Accounting Group. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Göttingen, completed in 2020.
Her research focuses on empirical studies at the intersection of corporate taxation, financial accounting, and corporate finance. She investigates how institutional factors such as tax regulations, accounting standards, and policy uncertainty influence corporate decision-making. Her work emphasizes real-world impacts of regulatory frameworks on firm behavior.
Her recent publications have appeared in top-tier journals including the Journal of Corporate Finance and Journal of Accounting and Economics, reflecting a strong trend in empirical analysis of tax and accounting policy effects on firms. These works span fields such as financial reporting, tax compliance, and corporate governance.
Lisa Hillmann is a Research Fellow of TRR 266 Accounting for Transparency, a collaborative research center focused on enhancing transparency in financial reporting and taxation. This affiliation underscores her commitment to rigorous, policy-relevant research.
She has conducted visiting research at Kenan-Flagler Business School (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) in 2018 and at IESE Business School in Barcelona in 2024, demonstrating international research engagement.
