Barbara Stage

Barbara Stage is an Assistant Professor of Economics at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. Her research and teaching focus on sustainability, taxation, and inequality. She is affiliated with the Financial Accounting and Tax Center at WHU.

Research Interests:

• Taxwashing in firm disclosures
• Tax evasion at the top of the wealth distribution
• Consequences for economic inequality

Teaching:

• Introduction to Financial Accounting (BSc) with emphasis on Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
• Tax strategy courses evaluating tax aggressiveness via NGO frameworks

Publication Trends: Her 15 most recent articles (2018–2024) span corporate taxation, digitalization's fiscal impact, tax transparency initiatives, and inequality dynamics. Key subfields include tax incentives, cross-border compliance, greenwashing, and policy evaluation using empirical methodologies.
