Lisa H. Sideris

Lisa H. Sideris is a Professor and Department Vice Chair in the Department of Environmental Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her work bridges environmental ethics, religion, and the sciences, with a focus on the ethical dimensions of the Anthropocene and emerging technologies like geoengineering. She previously held positions at Indiana University, McGill University, and Pace University.

Research Interests: Dr. Sideris explores the intersection of religion, science, and environmental ethics. Her work examines how wonder in scientific discourse shapes human-nature relationships, and investigates the mythic/ethical dimensions of Anthropocene technologies. She co-edited Rachel Carson: Legacy and Challenge and authored Environmental Ethics, Ecological Theology, and Natural Selection and Consecrating Science: Wonder, Knowledge, and the Natural World.
