Lisa Chastain

Lisa Chastain serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center's Jerry H Hodge School of Pharmacy, where she has maintained continuous faculty appointment since August 2007.

Her academic foundation includes a PharmD from University of Houston College of Pharmacy (2001-2005) and BS in Biology from Baylor University (1997-2001).

Dr. Chastain's research program centers on clinical pharmacy practice with specialized expertise in diabetes therapeutics, obesity pharmacotherapy, and lipid management. Her work frequently addresses healthcare disparities in veteran populations, examining medication access barriers and treatment optimization for chronic conditions. She has made significant contributions to understanding antidiabetic agent weight effects, combination diabetes therapies, and cardiovascular pharmacotherapy in complex patient cohorts.

Analysis of her 10 publications (2007-2018) reveals consistent focus on diabetes management innovations including insulin degludec/liraglutide combinations, obesity pharmacotherapy in diabetic patients, and novel agents like imeglimin.
