Lisa Berg is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer/Docent at the Department of Public Health Sciences, Stockholm University, and affiliated with the Centre for Health Equity Studies (CHESS). She leads the Children, Migration and Integration (CMI) research group, focusing on interdisciplinary studies of child and refugee health. Her expertise spans epidemiology, public health, and social determinants of health, with emphasis on migration, bereavement, and multigenerational health disparities.
Educations: Defended her PhD thesis at Karolinska Institutet in 2012, appointed Associate Professor in 2020. She holds academic qualifications in public health sciences and epidemiology.
Research focuses on migration-related health, mental health consequences of parental loss, and multigenerational transmissions of adversity. Key projects include Studies of Migration and Social Determinants of Health (SMASH), funded by Forte, examining health disparities among migrants. Her work bridges epidemiology with social sciences, using register-based data to analyze long-term health impacts of trauma and socioeconomic factors.
Publications highlight themes like post-pandemic mental health, refugee psychiatric care barriers, and the intergenerational effects of parental death. Her findings underscore the need for targeted interventions addressing health inequities in vulnerable populations.
