Lisa A. Shay is the Associate Dean for Educational Innovation and Professor of Electrical Engineering at The Cooper Union's Albert Nerken School of Engineering. She previously led the Electrical Engineering Program at the United States Military Academy at West Point (ranked top 10 nationally) and served 30 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Colonel. Her roles include overseeing graduate programs, accreditation, and professional development initiatives. Dr. Shay holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from West Point, M.S. from Emmanuel College (as a Marshall Scholar), Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and additional master's degrees from the Naval War College and Fordham University.
Her research bridges engineering, education, law, and ethics, focusing on technology's societal impact and fostering socially responsible engineers. She is a licensed engineer in Virginia, IEEE Senior Member, and ABET evaluator. Notable contributions include authoring over 30 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and a legal review piece.
