معرفی
Lisa A. E. Kaplan serves as Professor of Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Quinnipiac University. Her research examines how plasticizer exposure alters aggression, social behaviors, and locomotion in aquatic species through disruption of serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitter systems. She teaches core courses including Human Anatomy and Physiology I, Biology Journal Club, and Independent Research in Biological Science.

Research Focus
Dr. Kaplan investigates neurobehavioral impacts of environmental contaminants, particularly plasticizers, on crayfish, fish, and amphipods. Her work bridges toxicology, neuroscience, and ethology to understand chemical-induced alterations in aggression, social interactions, and locomotion. This interdisciplinary approach trains students to synthesize knowledge across biological scales from whole organisms to molecular mechanisms.
Mentorship & Teaching
She actively involves undergraduates in hands-on research, emphasizing critical thinking and integration of concepts across disciplines. Her teaching philosophy centers on building student confidence through experiential learning, guiding them from foundational knowledge toward synthesis and application of complex biological principles in courses like ENV 245 The Magical Marine Environment and FS 120 DNA in Forensic Science.
