MGH Institute of Health Professionsمعرفی
Liraz Arie, PhD, PT, serves as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Cognitive-Motor Behavior Lab of the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston. Her work centers on the intersection of motor control and cognitive processes, developing interventions for fall risk assessment and rehabilitation in aging adults and neurological populations.
She earned her PhD in Physical Therapy from New York University in 2024, investigating dual-task costs in walking for individuals with bilateral hearing loss under Dr. Anat Lubetzky. Her foundational research includes an MSc in Physical Therapy from Tel Aviv University (2016), where she studied balance, gait, and cognitive deterioration across Parkinson's disease subtypes with Prof. Jeffrey M. Hausdorff.
Dr. Arie's research spans Motor Control and Cognitive Processes, Fall Risk Assessment, Aging, and Neurological Disorders Rehabilitation. She examines how cognitive load impacts postural stability, particularly in hearing-impaired and Parkinson's populations, integrating clinical expertise from her background as a senior physical therapist in Israel. Her professional certifications include Pilates and Yoga instruction, enhancing her rehabilitation approach.
Recent publications (2023-2024) reveal consistent focus on balance disorders, Parkinson's disease progression, and sensory cue integration. Key trends include freezing of gait predictors, cognitive reserve effects on motor subtypes, and auditory contributions to dynamic balance—highlighting translational applications for fall prevention.
She actively presents at major conferences including the Audio Engineering Society's AVAR (2024), AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting (2024), American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (2023), and NYU Langone's Rusk Symposium (2023).
Within the Cognitive-Motor Behavior Lab, Dr. Arie investigates sensorimotor-cognitive integration to refine rehabilitation protocols for vulnerable populations, particularly emphasizing real-world applicability of laboratory findings.
