Anat Lubetzky is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Washington (2014) and an MSc in Physical Therapy from Tel Aviv University. As director of Steinhardt's PhD program in Rehabilitation Sciences and a mentor in the Physical Therapy PhD program, she leads interdisciplinary research on sensory integration for postural control and fall prevention, particularly in populations with hearing or vestibular loss.
Her research combines virtual reality (VR) technologies to study auditory-sensory interactions in balance, aiming to improve clinical assessments and rehabilitation strategies. Key areas include understanding how sound influences postural stability in individuals with hearing loss or vestibular dysfunction. Her work has been funded by the NIH and Hearing Health Foundation, with recent grants including an NYU MARL Center seed award.
Dr. Lubetzky's lab focuses on developing accessible VR applications for balance assessment and has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles. Notable contributions include identifying increased fall risks in hearing-impaired populations and creating novel sound-based balance training protocols. She collaborates with experts in music technology, computer science, and clinical medicine to advance translational research.
- Education:
