Liqun Luo is the Ann and Bill Swindells Professor of Biology at Stanford University and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. He teaches neurobiology to undergraduate and graduate students and authored the widely-used textbook 'Principles of Neurobiology'.
His research examines:
- Neural circuit assembly during development
- Architectural principles enabling neural functions
- Molecular mechanisms of synaptic specificity
- Neural circuit mapping techniques
Luo's work bridges developmental neurobiology and systems neuroscience, with recent publications focusing on wiring specificity in neural circuits. He has received numerous honors including election to the National Academy of Sciences.
