Prof. Liora Halperin is a Professor at the University of Washington, holding dual appointments in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies and the Department of History. She serves as the Distinguished Endowed Chair in Jewish Studies. Her research focuses on Jewish cultural history, Zionist national memory, and Jewish-Arab relations in Ottoman and Mandate Palestine. She earned her Ph.D. in Jewish History from UCLA (2011) and an A.B. from Harvard University (2005).
Her notable works include *Babel in Zion* (Yale, 2014), awarded the Shapiro Prize, and *The Oldest Guard* (Stanford, 2021). She explores themes such as collective memory in Jewish agricultural colonies and the shaping of Zionist historiography. Prof. Halperin teaches courses on Israel/Palestine history, Jewish history, and diaspora studies, and advises MA students. She is actively engaged in public speaking and consulting on institutional dynamics related to Israel/Palestine.
