Linus Rosén is a Researcher at the Division of Rural Development, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and senior research partner at the University of Oslo's Unruly Sustainability Challenges group. His work centers on power/resistance dynamics in rural change, political repression, environmental depletion, and energy transitions through critical geography, material anthropology, and political ecology frameworks.
He earned his PhD in Rural Development (2022) at SLU, examining material enactments of state power in rural Zambia. Currently leading a Formas-funded project (2024-00413) on energy justice in rural Zambia's low-carbon transitions, his research traces power circuits from bodily scales to governance structures.
Rosén investigates socially uneven power materializations and everyday resistance in contested landscapes, emphasizing decolonial dialogues across radical differences. His ethnographic approach prioritizes 'thinking from the ground' to expose colonial relations and oppressive power failures.
He teaches core Rural Development courses including Social Science Theories (LU0072), Resource Governance (LU0093), and Qualitative Methods (LU0091), while mentoring BA, MA, and PhD students in thesis research across critical development studies.
