Linn Christin Risvang is a PhD Research Fellow at the Department of Physical Performance, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, where she coordinates the BoneWheel project investigating bone health interventions for wheelchair users. She also serves as a lecturer in nutrition for the NIH Aktiv Personal Trainer Program.
Her research focuses on resistance exercise, sport and exercise nutrition, bone health, and para sport, particularly addressing the unique physiological challenges faced by wheelchair users and Paralympic athletes. Dr. Risvang's work bridges clinical exercise science with practical nutritional interventions to improve skeletal health in populations with limited weight-bearing capacity.
Recent publication trends show her expertise in Paralympic athlete physiology, with multiple 2024 studies examining bone mineral density, energy requirements, and metabolic rates in this population, culminating in the 2025 BoneWheel study protocol for a randomized controlled trial on resistance training interventions.
Dr. Risvang supervises master's students and serves as module leader for Nutrition Knowledge and Nutrition Counseling at NIH Aktiv. Her practical background includes working as a physical trainer and nutrition advisor in English top rugby before pursuing her academic career.
Her educational background includes a Master's degree in Sport and Exercise Nutrition from London Sport Institute (2017) and professional certifications as a personal trainer and fitness instructor from University College of Hedmark.
