Lingyan Yang serves as an Associate Professor in the Language, Literature, and Writing Department within Indiana University of Pennsylvania's College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD from University of Massachusetts at Amherst (2000)
- MA from University of Massachusetts at Amherst (1994)
- BA in English from Xiamen University, People's Republic of China
Professor Yang specializes in Asian American and Asian Diasporic (Women's) Literature and Cultural Criticism, with expertise spanning 20th and 21st century critical theories. Her scholarly work encompasses feminist theories, postcolonial theory, Asian diasporic cultural criticisms, poststructuralism, postmodernism, comparative postcolonial and American multiethnic women's literature and feminisms, and Marxist theory.
She demonstrated significant professional leadership as co-chair of the MELUS 2013 Conference Committee, which organized the national conference of the Society for the Study of the Multi-Ethnic Literature of the US in Pittsburgh. Additionally, she directed IUP's Women's and Gender Studies Program from 2012 to 2015, showcasing her commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and program development.
