Lingling Gao

Dr. Lingling Gao is a Research Scientist and Team Leader at CSIRO Agriculture and Food Research Unit, with additional roles as an Adjunct Professor fostering joint PhD programs and research collaborations. She specializes in legume genetics and genomics, focusing on transforming lupin into a high-value protein source through advanced multi-omics approaches.

• Current Roles: Team Leader, Legume Genetics and Genomics; Project Leader for initiatives in seed coat thickness, protein content, and nitrogen fixation efficiency.
• Education: PhD (2002) and MSc (1995) from The University of Adelaide; BSc from Shanxi Agricultural University, China.

Research Interests: Dr. Gao's work spans plant-insect interactions, molecular biology, and sustainable pest control solutions using RNAi technology. Her current projects target agronomic and nutritional improvements in narrow-leafed lupin, including reducing anti-nutritional seed alkaloids and enhancing nitrogen fixation efficiency.

Grants & Funding: Principal Investigator for three GRDC grants (2024-2028) and leadership roles in CSIRO internal and joint projects since 2016.
