معرفی
Linghai Zhang is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Lehigh University. He joined the institution in 2002 as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor after completing a postdoc at the University of Minnesota (1999–2002). His doctoral degree (1999) and master's (1986–1989) were from The Ohio State University and Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, respectively. He holds a bachelor's from Beijing Normal University (1982–1986).
- Education:
- Bachelor: Beijing Normal University (1982–1986)
- Master: Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics (1986–1989)
- Ph.D: The Ohio State University (1994–1999)
His research focuses on three interconnected areas: (1) decay estimates for fluid dynamics equations, (2) traveling pulse solutions in neuronal networks, and (3) explicit solutions of nonlinear evolution equations. Recent work emphasizes rigorous mathematical analysis of quasi-geostrophic equations and synaptic network models.
Teaching responsibilities include Math 23 (Calculus 3) and advanced courses like Functional Analysis. Over 70 published papers highlight his prolific output, with notable contributions to nonlinear PDE theory and applied mathematical neuroscience.
