Ling Lam is a Lecturer in Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), combining expertise in engineering, psychology, and executive coaching. He transitioned from a career in electrical engineering—where he co-invented the first HDMI chip—to focus on human behavior and leadership development. Lam holds a PhD in Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and has held academic roles at Santa Clara University and the California Institute of Integral Studies.
Education includes a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (1996, 1997), an MA in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University (2006), and certifications in psychedelic therapies (2023). He teaches OB 374: Interpersonal Dynamics at the GSB, emphasizing human dynamics in leadership.
His research interests center on emotional resilience, executive coaching, and the intersection of psychology with organizational success. Lam’s work integrates trauma-informed practices, stress management, and authentic leadership training, supported by awards such as the NSF Fellowship and Terman Award. He offers executive coaching, psychotherapy, and corporate training on emotional intelligence and feedback strategies.
