معرفی
Ling Deng is an Associate Professor at the Department of Food Science, University of Copenhagen, specializing in Food Microbiology, Gut Health, and Fermentation. She has been with the university since 2011, advancing from Research Assistant to her current position as Associate Professor since December 2021, with previous roles as Assistant Professor (2016-2021) and Postdoc (2011-2016).
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of Copenhagen (2007-2011)
- Master's in Biotechnology from Huazhong Agricultural University, China (2004-2007)
- BSc in Biological Science and Bachelor of Agronomy from Huazhong Agricultural University, China (2000-2004)
Dr. Deng's research focuses on virome analysis, archaeal virology, CRISPR-Cas systems, gut microbiome, phage therapy, and prebiotics/probiotics development. Her work explores the methods for purification, sequencing and analysis of virome, archaeal genetic systems and their viruses, CRISPR-Cas and other defense systems, the role of viruses in the gut, microbiome engineering through viruses, FMT, FVT and phage therapy. She has developed novel methods for virome characterization and bacteriophage purification from complex samples like fecal matter.
Her recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate a strong focus on infant gut microbiome and virome research, with particular emphasis on how early life exposures shape viral communities and their impact on health outcomes including asthma risk. Her technical contributions include developing novel methods for virome characterization and bacteriophage purification from fecal samples.
Dr. Deng has collaborated extensively with researchers across multiple institutions, particularly on projects related to early life microbiome development and its implications for immune-related conditions. Her work bridges food science, microbiology, and human health, with potential applications in developing novel therapeutic approaches based on microbiome modulation.
