Line Algoed

Line Algoed is a Research Fellow in the Department of Geography at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, affiliated with the Cosmopolis Centre for Urban Research and the Centre of Expertise on Gender, Diversity and Intersectionality. Their research examines land tenure systems, community-led development, and decolonial resistance, with geographic focus on Puerto Rico and Barbuda.

Research interests include:

• Urban resilience and community land trusts
• Decolonial approaches to land ownership
• Environmental justice in post-disaster contexts
• Housing affordability policies
• Participatory action research methodologies

Recent publications analyze how marginalized communities leverage collective land ownership to resist privatization and state interventions. Work consistently explores intersections of power, vulnerability, and grassroots mobilization in urban and Caribbean contexts.
