Lindsey Liggan is an Assistant Professor and Director of Student Affairs in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the Graduate College of Health Sciences, Hawaii Pacific University (HPU), based in Las Vegas, Nevada. They are actively engaged in clinical practice, teaching, and professional service, with a strong commitment to inclusive healthcare and medical education.
Their educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in exercise science from California State University, Long Beach (2009), and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences (2013).
Lindsey Liggan's research and teaching focus on anatomy, physiology, differential diagnostics, primary care, and specialized areas such as women’s and pelvic health. They are particularly passionate about healthcare equity for LGBTQ+ populations, pain science, and educational leadership. Their work emphasizes inclusive pedagogy and mentorship, especially for underrepresented students in healthcare.
Dr. Liggan is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy (WCS) and holds advanced certifications in pelvic rehabilitation (PRPC) and lymphedema therapy (CLT). They are actively involved in clinical practice at a specialty clinic associated with a rural community hospital in Lebanon, Oregon, serving patients with genitourinary, gastrointestinal, pregnancy/post-partum, sexual function, and orthopedic concerns.
They have presented their work at several national conferences including the International Pelvic Pain Society Annual Meeting, National Association of Medical Minority Educators Annual Conference, APTA’s Educational Leadership Conference, and the APTA’s Combined Sections Meeting.
Lindsey Liggan is a dedicated educator and mentor, having served on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) committees, Title IX committees, and as a faculty mentor for underrepresented students. They are a member of numerous professional organizations such as the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) academies in Pelvic Health, Education, Oncology, Leadership and Innovation, the American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA), Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA), American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), International Pelvic Pain Society (IPPS), and the National Association of Medical Minority Educators (NAMME).
In their personal time, Dr. Liggan enjoys traveling, cooking, bread making, trivia, paddle boarding, nature walks, and outdoor adventures with their dog Ayla.
