Lindsay Ross-Stewart

Dr. Lindsay Ross-Stewart is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Health at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's School of Education, Health and Human Behavior. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and an M.S. in Kinesiology from the University of North Dakota, and a B.A. in Psychology from Mount Allison University. Her research centers on sport and exercise psychology, with a specialized focus on Albert Bandura's Self-Efficacy Theory and the application of imagery and virtual reality protocols in athletic performance enhancement.

Dr. Ross-Stewart's work explores how mental imagery influences efficacy and sport outcomes, including innovative research on Imagery Assisted Virtual Reality Protocols. She has published extensively in journals such as The Sport Psychologist, Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, and Journal of Imagery Research in Sport and Physical Activity. Her recent studies examine VR training in esports, coaching philosophies, chronic pain management through imagery, and psychological resilience in endurance athletes.

She maintains active professional affiliations as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), an Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) registered mentor, and a member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association. Her contributions to academia have been recognized with the 2024 AASP Teaching Excellence Award and the Ohio Valley Conference's Outstanding Faculty Commitment to Student Success Award.

At SIUE, she teaches graduate courses covering Sport Psychology, Professional Ethics, Diversity in Sport, Coaching Psychology, and a capstone seminar. Her research consistently demonstrates interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in developing practical interventions for athletes and coaches.
